Language and Literacy Narrative

Here is where I will introduce the goals of the LLN

Cover Letter

Reading the reading material, I could see that language had a great impact on the identity of the user, furthermore, the identity of the culture. The content of the reading material argued how discriminatory treatment of language has a negative impact on users and that the use and culture. Therefore, there are a deep connection between language and culture. For example, 100 years ago, Korea was a colony of Japan. Japan’s colonial policy was to prevent using Korean language, so that Korean culture would disappear over time. Japan changed Korean’s name to Japanese, and only taught Japanese in schools and banned the use of Korean. However, some intellectuals tried to spread the Korean language by compiling a Korean dictionary. Therefore, Korean language is still existing. Based on this history, I sympathized a lot with reading the material.

I am currently studying abroad in America. I think successful study abroad is not just to study, get good grades, graduate, but to understand the culture there. Therefore, I want to study English that helps me understand English culture rather than just English for grades. If Another thing I felt in America is the use of Spanish. American history and Spanish seem to be inextricably linked. And there are many countries that speak Spanish around the U.S. If I can speak both English and Spanish, I think It is more helpful for me to understand American culture and the culture around US.
